A Milestone Worth Celebrating: 100 Days of School

Milestones are an important part of our lives. They’re a chance to honor achievements and recognize the hard work that allowed us to attain those accomplishments. Whether it’s a baby’s first step, first words, or their first day of school, we choose to recognize them because they represent progress toward our goals. This is why F&P Brands and their Dairy Queen restaurants partnered with McAllen ISD and Sharyland ISD to celebrate the 100 Days of School. So why 100 Days you may ask? The hallmark of the first 100 days dates back to 1933, when then president Franklin Delano Roosevelt chose to reflect on his first 100 days in office, and so began the tradition. The 100th day of school is a significant milestone in the academic calendar because it represents perseverance, growth, and the achievements of students and educators alike.

100 Days of School F&P Brands

Sweet Surprises and Sunny Smiles awaited students and staff

Dressed in his signature red, white, and blue attire, Mr. Blizzard made his way through the two districts’ elementary schools, where the path to educational excellence begins. Much to the delight of students and teachers alike the lovable mascot didn’t come empty-handed. Mr Blizzard brought along some sweet surprises to share for their special day including DQ sandwiches and coloring books. There were plenty of smiles in the classrooms and hallways as students and staff joined Mr Blizzard for the fun as they unwrapped the delightful DQ sandwiches. It was a chance to say “good job,” “you’ve got this,” and “we believe in you!” Mr Blizzard’s visit emphasized the importance of supporting education and making school a fun and exciting place for students. By the 100th day of school students have settled into their daily routines, they’ve worked hard on exams, school plays, choir concerts, and made new friends. Our 100 Days of School celebrations help students look back on these memories and smile with the satisfaction of a job well done. But it’s not only about celebrating the past, but also about encouraging them for the future. It’s about day 101 and what they can accomplish in the days, weeks, and months to come.

F&P Brands and Dairy Queen’s Commitment to Community Engagement

The 100 Days of School celebration is more than just an event, it’s a symbol of F&P Brands’ commitment to our community. For years we’ve supported local educational initiatives that build upon the strong foundation our schools have shaped for our children. Our DQ Blizzard Battles across the Rio Grande Valley and Corpus Christi give schools an opportunity to win scholarship money that adds to the excitement on the football field, once again proving that education goes hand in hand with fun. In 2024 alone F&P Brands supported schools with more than $100,000 in scholarships, donations, and sponsorships. F&P Brands was born in the RGV and will continue to affirm the company’s commitment to spreading joy beyond their restaurants and directly into the hearts of local communities. Our partnership with school districts for this celebration is a shining example of how businesses and schools can come together to create meaningful and joyful experiences for children inside and outside the classrooms.

Here’s to many more sweet memories in the future!
